Mr. Joel Olsteen (a personal word)

July 29, 2013

All scripture taken from the King James Version, unless otherwise noted.

Mr. Josh Olsteen,

I find your sermon is clearly expressing the understanding of God’s Love. (Agape) Overcoming all boundaries with the love of God that we are given when we come to him in Jesus.

While there is also ample verse for showing that After we come to him, how much more he loves us who choose to believe in Jesus and serve him in righteousness rather than continue giving into the sin of our sin master, whom we were given to at birth, therefore being righteous outside of the law,  until Lord Jesus made it possible to choose to follow after him. Those who make such a confession that they believe in Jesus as Lord and that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

I’m glad that you used the word repentance in you sermon; as you saw in that last paragraph The verse of Romans 10:9kjv strictly says:

“That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

And no mention of repentance is given. Such it is taught by Mr. Andrew Wommack who Airs his own ministry. At least you show the need for repentance in your confession. And then, you have Joyce Meyers teaching that we need to make a change in our lives.

Say it and pray it. Name it and claim it. I am certain that the words that we speak are capable of making or breaking us in our lives. But, all three of you are making a big mistake. You are all giving sermons and stressing either the Love of God or the power of our words, or the need for change in our lives. And all three are true but none of them tells us how we do it just like Jesus taught it.

Just like Jesus taught it.

Paul was taught by Jesus and was given the ministry to teach the gentiles, this you know, but do you know what was the teaching he gave us along with Jesus and the Apostles? And do you see the importance of Jesus giving us a New Commandment. “To Love, (Agape) each other as I have loved you.”

Paul was more than happy to confess before Felix, “ I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets” (Acts 24:14KJV)

The Way, which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers…STRONG words all pointing to a teaching called the Way. And then in prophecy given for the end times we read in Isaiah 30:20-26kjv

20“And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine eyes shall see thy teachers:  21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the Way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.”

While the churches and sects talk about what the Bible says and of keeping to the right path not the left. The Truth says that we can walk in the Way whether we walk right or left.

It’s a Way of worship and such a way that the adversary will press upon you from all sides to pressure you to go astray. But because you can walk in the Way regardless of the pressure, in fact it actually helps us. By showing us the fruits of our desires as the temptation to find the Love of God in the temptations Loving-alternatives.

The Way Of Jesus, revealed to us through “Remembrances” given in the Spirit to the “Hidden Wisdom” of understanding, in the message of the Written Word, and given understanding to as we walk in the way of repentance, to find the way of  love that we can choose to submit to until it transforms us into the like mind of our Lord Jesus. Having his thoughts, will and emotions as one with our own. Thereby knowing God in his Righteousness through Jesus. And by walking in the Way we will know the Love of God, his Agape Love. In increasing measure.

What is walking in the way? Isaiah was told by unbelievers, “Leave the Way! Get off the Path! Let us hear no more about the Holy One of Israel!”

Can you get worked up over something like that? Can you teach others the One Way that will guarantee your Salvation; the One thing that can save you; the One thing that can bring you into the glorious Hidden Wisdom; the one thing that defines your worship, so much that Paul confessed himself to be one such worshipper.

What is this Way of Jesus that not only gives you the relationship with God that allows you to know as one His thoughts, His will,  And His emotion?  Repentance.

In a word: Repentance.

Repentance as The Way to walk when we turn right and do the Right Thing, OR even if we turn to the left to indulge ourselves with the worries, the riches and the pleasures of  life as a sinner. What matters is that now our sin stands naked to our scrutiny. What desire am I trying to satisfy? What harm do I cause? Can I get this same reward without causing any harm to anyone? Do I need to have it? Why? What am I not seeing in the need for love that does no harm? What Truth that all can do is being sought and once found, acknowledged! What whole process is a personal choice and sanctioned by the Spiritual “Remembrances” of God’s Word. What Way gives you a real Heartfelt understanding of God’s Righteousness in Jesus. Who makes our faith an experience of the Heart and the mind of Christ is ours to believe in because Only his Truth can reveal it to us for our continuing choices in every circumstance where Love, Agape- can prove your Lord to Your belief For Faithfulness. Because only Jesus can reveal the Love of God to us for the Spirit of  The Word is Life and Truth.

I come to you in the open as a friend and brother in Christ. I hope that you will begin to learn why it is that you don’t teach the Way. You know how it feels to feel guilty and you know how good it feels when you are in the right. I’m confident you will find the knowledge of Way. And begin to share that with your congregation. In the mean time prepare for the times just ahead.

In Him,

  1. I read this article and I don’t see why it’s called a comment, it sees to me that this is THIS persons way of teaching. Fine we all need to learn more about the bible but please don’t think that this kind of study does anything. Only walking in the Way will produce a true disciple.Period. This won’t teach you how to do that so for most everyone it will leave you empty. Not for me. Read my blogs and you will see “how to” in them. till then . In Him, J.J.
